With homes now being on average twice as well insulated as a decade ago, MVHR systems have really come to the forefront of modern space ventilation. In the drive to find a suitable ventilation format, mechanical heat recovery ventilation systems are more and more increasingly used to provide controlled ventilation.
Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery, otherwise called Heat Recovery Ventilation (MVHR) is the only form of ventilation that cuts out almost all of the ventilation heat losses normally, which make up to 30% of the heating demand of a dwelling. No other ventilation method available is as nearly predictable and consistent in providing the required amount of fresh air into each room, as well as extracting stale and polluted air where required.
MVHR uses extremely little energy, compared to conventional Air Conditioning Systems. It goes hand in hand with the fabric first approach, based on passive design criteria, which is becoming increasingly common as consumers awareness and understanding of its advantages shine. Compared with any other renewable ventilation technology, it has potentially the greatest impact on the primary energy use, CO2 footprint and heating costs.
